Whitney Howington, FNP-C

Whitney Howington FNP-C is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who specializes in orthopaedics, spine, and occupational medicine. She has extensive knowledge in treating knee, shoulder, arm, leg, and back pain. She routinely evaluates and treats acute injuries and fractures. She is a respected member of the orthopaedic team and a direct liaison between the patients and the physicians. Whitney is often the first member of the team to evaluate a patient, order any necessary studies, and initiate their care and she is an expert in performing joint injections. She is trained in identifying and preparing patients for epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablations, and facet blocks as well as all orthopaedic issues. Whitney is certified by the National Osteoporosis Foundation and engages in a fracture liaison service for osteoporotic patients.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at East Tennessee State University and her Master of Science in Nursing at Lincoln Memorial University. She is certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the AANP. Whitney is also certified medical examiner for the Department of Transportation. During her undergraduate studies, she worked in a physical therapy center helping patients rehab from injuries, post-surgical procedures, and chronic joint pain. As a student she completed her preceptorship in orthopaedics, specializing in the spine. In her graduate studies, she presented a clinical presentation at a large exhibition featuring osteoarthritis of the knee joint and submitted an article for publication. She has a wide range of experience including orthopaedic surgery, occupational health, primary care, and urgent care. As a Morristown native, she is fulfilling her dreams by providing healthcare to her very own community.
